- Five men and five boys have to cross over the Thames River to attend a birthday party. They have only one small boat with them. Due to small size of the row boat, the boat can not carry more than one man, or more than two boys. Thus, a man riding with a boy would not be possible. What would be the least number of boat trips that would take everyone to the other shore?

Water tank has three inlet pipes and one outlet pipe. One inlet pipe A takes 2 hours to fill the tank. Another inlet pipe B takes 3 hours to fill the tank. The third inlet pipe C takes 4 hours to fill the tank. The outlet pipe D empties the whole tank in 12 hours. If the tank is initially empty, how long would it take to fill the tank if all the inlets and outlet pipes are fully in operation?
1 Hour to fill the Water Tank but How to???.....Let's Calculate
The rates for the pipes are as under:
Pipe A = 1/2 tank per hour
Pipe B = 1/3 tank per hour
Pipe C = 1/4 tank per hour
Outlet Pipe D = -1/12 tank per hour1 full tank = rate x time
1 = (1/2+1/3+1/4-1/12) time
time = 1 hourTherefore, Water Tank completely fill after 1 hour.
